Dance CompetitionsThe success of Dance Crazy founders Simon and Heidi Cruwys, is driven through their participation in dance competitions, which led them both to hold UK championship titles. As children they were involved in small regional events where they gained, not only practice in performance, but an opportunity to meet and talk to other leading UK dancers. The dancing community is large and extremely competitive and has strict competition rules, ensuring that every ones techniques are polished, uniform and well rehearsed. Simon and Heidi were high profile dancers in the UK dance community, very well known and respected. Many of their contemporaries, like their good friend Karen Hardy, have gone on to start their own schools and, in Karen’s case, entering into a career in television. The possibilities are endless! This is why Dance Crazy is committed to supporting and organising opportunities for their students to get involved in the world of competition dancing. It’s a great way to build students confidence and for them to understand why we encourage them to work so hard. We want you to be the very best dancer you can be. We are very proud of the amazing success achieved by our students here at Dance Crazy; see section on ‘student achievements’, who by their own determination and focus in training have been rewarded with recognition by not only the dancing authorities but also the National dance community. We wish them continued success. Our experience in competition dancing from Regional to World class Championships allows us to offer the best advice to any dancer irrespective of ability. We can help you get involved. Our major competition is the ‘Blackpool Grand Final’ , this being the largest ISTD medals competition in the dancing calendar. This event is held in November at the prestigious ballroom at the Blackpool Tower. This event has been running for over 8 years, growing in entries and talent with each year. The Blackpool Grand Final is a national Competition held over 2 days, Saturday shows the under 16’s, competing in their age and medallist groupings, and Sundays are for 16 and above. It is a fantastic opportunity for young dancers to dance on such a beautiful and historical ballroom. Competitors qualify for Blackpool by entering into a series of championship qualifying events. The first competition of each year is held at the Pavilion Bournemouth, adults compete in January and children at the end of February; Dance Crazy take part in this particular event as Bournemouth is their home town but; the school takes part in all other medallist competitions held throughout the year. We have, in the past, gained numerous awards and titles in Blackpool, a venue famous for dance and world class performances. It is with renewed enthusiasm that our students get back into the studio and very often step up in their training and start planning their next competition! Dancers are by their very nature hard working and by getting involved in the dance competition circuit they have a chance to put all their hard work to the test against the very best the UK has to offer. Competition dancing is very hard work and challenging but they are extremely good fun and can be life changing in the career of a dancer. Call us on 01202 557891 to get involved. |
