Latin Dancing Lessons

Our dance school teaches Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Cha Cha, Paso Doble and Jive, and it’s hot, hot, hot in these lessons. The Latin beat is sensual and sexy, making it a very popular dance, where we focus on floor and partner work introducing the separate dance styles, teaching step sequences for each.

Some of these dances require couples to use closed ballroom holds; others are performed by holding one hand. The figures in these dances are categorised and standardised into various levels for teaching with recognised tempos, techniques, rhythms and vocabularies agreed internationally.

The Latin dances have originated from all over the world, Salsa from Latin America, the Rumba, Cha Cha and Paso Doble from Europe and the Jive from North America. These 6 styles are regarded internationally as the Latin dances performed in major dance competitions and enjoyed socially.

Having a partner is not compulsory as we can usually find everyone someone to dance with. Our teachers also try to give each dancer an opportunity to dance with them during their lesson, this helps to assess where you might need help with steps and with refining your posture. Many of our solo dancers wanting to pick up some Latin moves usually end up picking up a few new friends too!

If you have taken part in our Latin classes before and would like some experience working with a partner, or maybe you would like to book a private lesson with a Dance Crazy professional. Lessons are usually 45 minutes long and tailored to suit your requirements; lessons are booked in advance.
