Lawrence James

Lawrence, cousin to Dance Crazy founders Heidi and Simon Cruwys, started his career as a dancer when he was 6 and in the following 11 years competed in many prestigious events winning  a string of titles along the way. As a juvenile, through the ISTD board at medallist level, Lawrence won both regional and National events at each specific grade, quite an achievement for such a young dancer.

As a junior Lawrence was soon competing against the UK’s top ranked couples in the British BDA Open circuit. He was quickly recognised as a formidable talent and was soon ranked, along with his partner Jasmine Chan, number one in Britain for Latin and third for Ballroom.

During 07-08 Lawrence, now dancing with his partner Zoe Stacey, was ranked number two in England for both Latin and Ballroom. He was also a key member of the British team where he successfully competed at the junior World Championships Festival. In his final year as a junior Lawrence had the honour of being asked to head the British team as their team captain. Lawrence is now studying for a BTEC in Dance at Poole College and works regularly with the Dance Crazy teachers assisting in solo and group lessons.
